A survey by SonicWALL, a Sunnyvale, California-based company, reports that 10% of worldwide telecommuters are nude while working, finding 12% for men and 7% for women, respectively.
A gender gap also exists for showering on work-at-home days, with 44% of women showering, while only 30% of men did. The survey also found that 39% of both sexes wear sweats while working from home.
The survey also covered less racy topics, including opinions on productivity. 76% felt that working at home increased productivity.
The number of telecommuters has increased sharply in recent years. For example, 43% of U.S. government employees telecommute at least part of the time, up from only 19% one year ago.

Today, the United States (US) Senator from Arizona (AZ) and Vietnam War veteran John Sydney McCain III died from complications associated with Glioblastoma discovered during a surgical procedure to remove a mass from above his left eye on July 20, 2017. Glioblastoma is an aggressive form of brain cancer which afflicted the late Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy, brother to US President John F. Kennedy.
After a biopsy of the mass, originally believed to be a blood clot associated with his preexisting melanoma, Sen. McCain immediately underwent chemotherapy and radiation treatments at the Mayo Clinic located in Scottsdale, AZ. Input also came from the highly regarded Barrow Neurological Institute located in downtown Phoenix, AZ. Between treatment, Sen. McCain would recover at his Sedona, AZ ranch.
During the Vietnam War, he was imprisoned sustaining multiple torture techniques, which would develop into melanoma. Known then as Captain McCain, his Douglas A-4 Skyhawk was showdown over Hanoi, North Vietnam, ejecting over Trúc B?ch Lake where local fisherman pulled him from the water on October 26, 1967. The North Vietnamese offered to return Capt. McCain because of his father, Admiral John S. McCain Jr., becoming commander of all US forces in Vietnam, but Capt. McCain refused unless all prisoners of war captured before were repatrioted, thus he would be held for the remainder of the war at H?a Lò Prison, nicknamed the “Hanoi Hilton” until March 14, 1973. He was chronically disfigured and endured chronic pain for the rest of his life as a direct result of the pervasive torture.
Stateside, McCain received intense physical therapy regaining his ability to walk, which was similar to the physical therapy after Glioblastoma treatments. His introduction into the world of politics came as the Navy’s liaison to the US Senate starting in 1977. After divorcing his first wife of 25 years, Caroll Shepp, in early 1980, he would marry Cindy Hensley, now known as Cindy McCain, later that year.
After two years of work for his father-in-law’s Hensley & Co. brewery, which was an Anheuser-Busch distributor, and with other companies, he would run for Congressmen for Arizona’s 1st district in 1982. He was known for going door-to-door during the summer months in Phoenix, AZ with heat in excess of 115°F (65°C). He would spend the next 5-years as Rep. McCain, until Barry Goldwater vacated his senatorial seat in 1987. Ultimately he was elected to the Senate residing as a ranking member of the politically powerful Armed Services Committee spending three decades overseeing defense spending accounting for the largest portion of federal spending.
During the 2000 presidential election cycle, Sen. McCain would run for the Republican candidacy where his biggest challenger was then Gov. George W. Bush, whom would go on to become 43st president of the US. Sen. McCain also ran for US president in 2008 clinching the Republican nomination and appointing Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska as his vice presidential candidate. He would be defeated by then freshmen Senator from Illinois, Barack Obama.
Sen. McCain departure leaves a leadership vacuum in the Senate as establishment Republicans are politically fractured. An endorsement by Sen. McCain is one of the most sought after things for any Republican candidate. His actions garnered the nicknamed “Maverick of the Senate” successfully producing bipartisan policies.
Since 1989, when Sen. McCain was the target of an ethics violations, later referred to as the Keating Five, Sen. McCain had sought campaign finance reform. After being determined as “acting in poor judgement”, Sen. McCain helped develop the largest modern campaign finance reform with the 2002 McCain-Feingold Act limiting special interest influence.
Specialized spending amendments made to legislation intended for a politician’s constituents, commonly referred to as ‘pork barrel spending’, has been a target for Sen. McCain calling it un-Constitutional and has never partook in the common legislative technique. Additionally, he has been against abortion and supported gun rights with a strict interpretation of the second amendment. His push for comprehensive immigration reform has not been addressed in significant policy changes.
His death will be felt in Congress with friends of all political parties and the international community. During his treatment, Sen. McCain began developed plans for his funeral which will be held **** at the Navy Academy in Annapolis, MD. Prior to his death, Navy officials honored Sen. McCain by adding his name to the Destroyer USS John McCain originally named for his grandfather and father, both Navy officers, prior to his death.
In attendance will be major power brokers domestically and internationally. Among the international dignitaries were: . …
Bipartisan politicians from across the US paid their respects including: . …
After tensions with the White House over several issues and President Donald Trump, Sen. McCain and the McCain family have barred Trump from attending the service extending an invitation to Vice President Mike Pence instead. Trump’s most notable statement about Sen. McCain was, “He is a hero because he was captured … I like people that weren’t captured”.
He is survived by his wife Cindy McCain, 7 children, and 5 grandchildren.

An acrobatic group known by the name of Spelbound has been declared as the winner of Britain’s Got Talent 2010, a televised variety talent show competition broadcast on ITV in the United Kingdom. As the winning act of the show, Spelbound have won £100,000 (US$144,580, €120,313, A$175,079) and a place at The Royal Variety Performance, an annual gala evening that is attended by senior members of the British Royal Family.
In no particular order, the top three acts were revealed to be two dancers known by their stage name of Twist and Pulse, gymnastic group Spelbound and Kieran Gaffney, whose act involves playing on the drum kit. After Kieran Gaffney was revealed to be in third place, Anthony McPartlin, who hosts Britain’s Got Talent with Declan Donnelly, said to Kieran: “Well done Kieran. Kieran, you’re a star, you came back, you got all the way to the final. I know you’ve loved this. You’ve loved this, haven’t you?” In response to this, Kieran Gaffney stated: “Thank you very much. Thank you, everyone for supporting me. Thank you.”
Shortly afterwards, on the episode that was broadcast live on ITV1 on Saturday, Anthony announced: “After tens of thousands of auditons, five semi-finals and an amazing final, this…this is it. One of you is about to walk away with £100,000 and a place at this year’s Royal Variety Performance. The winner of Britain’s Got Talent 2010 is…Spelbound!” Glen Murphy from Twist and Pulse commented about finishing in second place, stating: “Yeah, it’s amazing. I can’t even believe it. I couldn’t have asked for more. Um, it’s a team of coaches. I don’t take all the credit myself. There’s, uh, two people up there that know who they are who’ve been fantastic.”

A 16-year-old male from Novato, California has been arrested in Tennessee over allegations he intended to hijack a commercial passenger airliner in the United States.
The boy, who was unnamed due to his age, was a passenger on board Southwest Airlines Flight 284 from Los Angeles to Nashville on Tuesday, with his parents reporting him missing at 11:30 am the same day. Although he remained calm throughout the flight and made no hijacking attempt, authorities report he had handcuffs, duct tape and yarn inside the aircraft cabin with him. Although his arrest was only made public on Friday, it is reported that he was detained immediately on reaching Nashville International Airport.
George Bolds, a spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said that the items were “suspicious” and that the boy had informed the FBI he had indeed intended to hijack the aircraft. An FBI agent told reporters that he felt the plot was ill-conceived, saying “His plan had a low probability of success.”
The FBI also conducted a search of his home on Thursday, finding in his room “a photograph of the inside of a small aircraft, something you’d find in a bookstore.”
Subsequent to his arrest he pled guilty on Friday to a “delinquent act,” according to local officials. A juvenile court judge ordered him to be returned to California for continued perusal of that charge as well as others set to be made. He is currently in Davidson County Juvenile Detention Center in Nashville.
Authorities believe that the teen was suicidal, but the FBI dismissed earlier reports alleging that he intended to crash the airliner into a Hannah Montana concert in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Apple Inc. announced Friday that it will give owners of its new iPhone 4 a free case in response to mounting concerns over the device’s antenna placement. The iPhone 4 antenna is actually a metal strip that wraps around the side of the device, which has caused dropped calls when held in a certain way.
The announcement came in a rare press conference held by Apple on Friday morning. During the event, company CEO Steve Jobs attempted to address reports by both consumers and the media of signal reception issues relating to the positioning of the phone’s antenna. Rather than recall the devices or offer a hardware fix, Jobs said yesterday that Apple will offer a free case to anyone who has purchased an iPhone 4.
The rubber cases, or “bumpers”, wrap around the side of an iPhone and have been found to alleviate the reception issues. Apple’s bumpers were priced at US$29 before the press conference, but will be free to anyone with an iPhone 4 until September 30. Jobs also said that those who had already purchased a bumper will receive a full refund for the accessory. For consumers still dissatisfied with iPhone 4, Jobs said that the phones can be returned for a refund as well.
Jobs acknowledged that “a very small percentage of users” were experiencing antenna issues, but dismissed the existence of an “Antennagate,” saying that similar problems plague all cellular phones and that the iPhone issue “has been blown so out of proportion that it is incredible.” He showed videos demonstrating a drop in signal strength when held in a certain way for other smartphones to help make his point.
According to company statistics, about one out of every 200 iPhone 4 customers have called AppleCare to complain about the antenna. The iPhone 4 return rate is about one-third of the iPhone 3GS return rate. However, Jobs admitted that the percentage of calls dropped on the iPhone 4 was slightly greater than the percentage of calls dropped on the 3GS. Jobs attributed the small increase to fewer iPhone 4 users putting cases on their devices.
In response to critics saying that Apple had not addressed the reception problem quickly enough, Jobs said that iPhone 4 had only been out for 22 days and that the company could not have resolved the issue any faster. The press event came just days after Consumer Reports declined to give Apple’s newest phone a “recommended” rating due to the antenna’s placement. The group said that Apple’s move to give away free cases is a good first step, but not permanent enough to earn a higher rating.
Earlier, on June 24, Apple told customers to either hold the phone without covering the antenna, or to use a case. The so-called “death grip”, however, has not been as big an issue for other phones as it has for iPhone 4, said Mike Gikas of Consumer Reports. On July 2, Apple associated the issue with a long-undiscovered software bug relating to the formula for calculating signal strength. An iOS update released Thursday came with an updated, more accurate method of calculating the number of cellular signal bars to display, but did not actually prevent the signal loss that comes with covering the antenna.

Anti-war demonstrators in Sydney, Australia on Thursday dubbed U.S. Secretary of State Dr Condoleezza Rice a “war criminal” and “murderer.” Two protesters were evicted and five people were arrested during protests against the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.
Dr Rice, on a three-day trip to Australia, said she understood why people found it hard to be positive about Iraq when all they saw on their television screens was violence.
Soon after Rice began her speech at the University of Sydney’s Conservatorium of Music, two protesters shouted from the rear of the auditorium, “Condoleezza Rice, you are a war criminal,” and “Iraqi blood is on your hands and you cannot wash that blood away.” Standing with their palms towards her, the young man and woman repeated their accusation until security intervened to remove them from the hall.
About 15 minutes into Rice’s address, a third protester appeared at a balcony door, interrupting her speech as she referred to freedom. “What kind of freedom are you talking about? You are a murderer,” said the demonstrator before he was quietly escorted from the hall. “I’m very glad to see that democracy is well and alive here at the university,” she said.
In her speech, Rice sought to justify the U.S. occupation of Iraq, describing Iraqis as now more free. One student asked about abuses committed by U.S. forces at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq. She said the abuses had made her “sick to her stomach.” However, she defended Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where human rights groups say detainees are held in inhumane conditions and in detention flouting international laws.
Before Rice began her speech, about 50 protesters were gathered at the front gates of the Conservatorium. The group were confronted by police on horseback and by police dogs. Police used the horses to charge into the group of activists and push them back, as a police helicopter hovered.
A police spokeswoman said the group was blocking pedestrian access to the building and that police had spent more than 20 minutes warning them to move. The police then moved in and pushed the crowd back 20 metres. Police say five people have been charged with “hindering police in the execution of their duties.”
The “Stop the War Coalition” says Rice is a “war criminal” and is not welcome in Australia. The group’s spokeswoman, Anna Samson, says the protest is one of many planned in the lead-up to the third anniversary of the invasion and occupation of Iraq on March 20.
Paddy Gibson, from the University of Sydney’s Student’s Council, says the protest is in opposition to the Iraq war, and to the use of the University of Sydney’s campus to host Rice, “the most powerful woman in the world,” who they say is a war criminal. “They’re saying, ‘… you’ve got Sydney Uni’s support to stand up and peddle your murderous hate speeches,’ which is what we see it,” he said.
“You’ve got 180,000 people killed, as we said, for no other reason than strategic control of the region’s oil resources. And the anti-Muslim racism that’s been whipped up to justify this war is being felt by Sydney University students,” said Mr Gibson.
