Healthy Face Skin Care

tempHow often do you read about the importance of wearing sun screen but just assume that because you spend most of your day sitting behind a desk that it doesn’t apply to you? Of course, you aren’t thinking about the time you spend walking to and from work, the fact that you enjoy sitting outside during lunch, or that you actually end up spending a pretty good amount of time in the sun each day. Now, we’ll stop before we get into the “can you get sunburned through windows” argument, but clearly, there is more than just “am I going to spend all of today outside” when it comes to wearing sunscreen. The use of sunscreen is just one example of the many different ways that skin care routines get abandoned. Other common ideas (that are wrong, mind you) are that people with oily skin don’t need moisturizer or that exfoliation isn’t needed by those with clear, smooth skin. Face skin care can seem pretty complex, but ultimately, all skin has pretty similar needs: it wants to be clean, it wants to have dead skin cells sloughed off, it wants to be moisturized, especially in dry months or after exposure to water (which is actually quite drying for skin). When you choose facial skin care products, that is the time to evaluate the needs of your skin and buy accordingly. If you are in your twenties and have clear skin, you want a very gentle exfoliant, and probably don’t want to use it more than twice a week. If you have very oily skin, you want to buy a moisturizer that is oil-free and won’t clog pores. Not all skin issues can be completely solved with the products you see at the store- sometimes a little extra help is required to produce the skin that you want to see in the mirror. In these cases, many people turn to prescription products. The Obagi skin care products are a unique example of prescription skin care. In order for a doctor to prescribe these products, they must first be licensed to do so. As a result, there are a number of places where people wouldn’t have any access to these products were it not for the Internet. Obagi is sold online for those who cannot see a doctor in person, with the consultation taking place before the order is placed so that a doctor can first determine if this line of products would be an appropriate treatment for the would-be client’s skin.Written by Kacy Suther. London bombing: Police search houses in Leeds

London bombing: Police search houses in Leeds

Tuesday, July 12, 2005

West Yorkshire Police searched six houses in Leeds today in connection with the London bombings. Houses were searched in the Burley, Beeston and Holbeck areas. Further properties were searched in Dewsbury, about eight miles from the city centre. The raids began at 6:30am BST this morning after warrants were issued under the Terrorism Act 2000. Police are still in attendance at one property, and are describing the searches as significant, and “intelligence led”.

Access to one house was gained using a robot-deployed controlled explosion. Other houses were entered by armed police.

London Metropolitan Police commissioner Sir Ian Blair said that the operation “is directly connected to the outrages on Thursday”. A “significant amount” of explosives was recovered from the Burley property. Following the discovery of the explosive, military bomb disposal experts were sent to the scene. Around 600 people were evacuated from the surrounding area. Temporary food and shelter is being provided by the local council at Kirkstall Leisure Centre, a mile away.

Understanding The Process Of Raising Hydroponic Plants

Understanding The Process of Raising Hydroponic Plants

by

Pweng Bee

Hydroponic plants are just like the other plant varieties that you know. The only difference will be the means of gardening. There is no soil required or even sunlight, and you may also raise some fishes next to your garden. You may argue with me but trust me my friend, after reading this article, you will at some point become very much interested in growing hydroponic plants.

The idea of this approach was adapted from our ancestors as an alternative food source. Plants\’ survival mainly depends on water and sunlight and the system works by using a growing medium and formulated nutrient solution.

• The medium serves as the plants\’ support and the solution serves as the plants\’ food.

• The solution is then mixed in water which is absorbed directly from the roots.

For raising hydroponic plants in an area where there isn\’t much sun or perhaps indoors, then grow lights are used alternatively to provide the required energy during the process of photosynthesis.

In order for hydroponics to work successfully, the growing medium should be something that allows the solution to flow smoothly. The solution must be 100% soluble in order to meet the nutritional requirements of your hydroponic plants, ideally a 2-part solution for blooming and fruiting. The lighting system should not produce other spectrums other than red and blue. As well, the light must not generate a lot of heat and consume a lot of power.

Watering Methods

• Aeroponics is a watering method where the roots are instead suspended in air and sprayed with the nutrient solution. This is not considered as the most effective because it may cost lots of money and more problems.

• EBB and flow or also referred to as flood and drain method is easier since the solution \”floods\” the medium and oxygen can pass through once the water drains. Just that, the root growth must be monitored to ensure the waterways aren\’t clogged.

• While NFT or the nutrient film technique is what many commercial growers prefer to use, aquaponics is another method where fishes can be bred together with hydroponic plants and can be really a challenge.

You can set up your own hydroponics garden using a kit if you want. Most kits include almost everything that you need to grow hydroponic plants but nevertheless, they will vary from each other.

Get started with a small, standard kit and you\’ll become an instant hydroponics gardening expert. If you\’re interested and intends to raise hydroponics plants, opt for those varieties that you enjoy eating to be able to get your investment\’s worth.

Each and every required to succeed in hydroponics gardening will vary from what types of hydroponic plants will be grown so it\’s best to acquaint yourself with all the various watering methods and also the required essential nutrient elements to maximize plant growth.

If you are still confused, please do not wait any longer and discover more about the required nutrients and growing medium for your crops and as well as

Sulpicio names companies hired for ‘Princess of the Stars’ salvage

Sulpicio names companies hired for ‘Princess of the Stars’ salvage

Monday, July 14, 2008

Sulpicio Lines has named the companies hired to conduct salvage operations for MV Princess of the Stars, the Philippines ferry that sank on June 21 during Typhoon Fengshen, leaving over 800 passengers dead.

The Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) had already set a deadline of this Tuesday to name the contractor who would recover the ship. Another important aspect is the separate recovery of chemicals on board, primarily the fuel and a 10-tonne shipment of the dangerous pesticide endosulfan by Del Monte.

The ship had also been carrying a number of other chemicals in smaller quantities, including metamedopus, carbofuran, niclosemide, and proptineb. All of the chemicals must be removed by order of the DOTC before the vessel is recovered. The chemical recovery is to be performed by Titan Salvage, an international firm owned by Florida’s Crowley Maritime Corporation and specialising in sunken and capsized ship recovery. Titan will co-operate with both Sulpicio and the DOTC, and expect the project to be completed within 60 days of the contract being signed.

Once the chemicals on board are removed then the ship itself can be recovered. Sulpicio has also named its contractor for this: Malayan Towage and Salvage Corporation (Salvtug). Salvtug has accepted the contract, but warned that its estimated operation cost is PHP2.25 billion to P4.5 billion, which is roughly equivalent to US$50 million to $100 million. Sulpicio had previously estimated that this exercise would cost P600 million.

The high cost is a potential problem as it is unclear who will pay. Sulpicio’s insurance does not cover salvage. Had Sulpicio been covered with protection and indemnity (P&I) insurance this would have been covered, but this is not required in the Philippines and so Sulpicio’s insurance agreement with Oriental Assurance Corporation only covered the hull, machinery and third-party injuries and damage.

It is likely that Sulpicio will pay for the recovery of the ferry, which has a gross weight of 23,824 tons, but as the ship poses a potential environmental hazard it has been suggested that the government should pay the costs initially to ensure work is done quickly, with Sulpicio to be charged later for this. However, for now it is unclear who will pay for the vessel’s recovery.

Southern California auto maker announces fully-electric sedan

Wednesday, April 1, 2009

While hybrid vehicles have found considerable popularity in the United States since their introduction, one difficulty associated with the rollout of a fully electric car has been the comparably high price and poor performance, compared to an internal combustion engine-driven car of similar size. Tesla Motors claims that their Model S, a sedan which runs solely on electricity, will be more affordable.

Tesla first entered the automobile market in 2006, with a prototype of an electric vehicle designed on the roadster style. While the car, whose exterior design was based on the Lotus Elise, accelerated well and had considerable range, its cost of US$109,000 was prohibitive for many and to date only 300 have been sold, with a thousand more ordered.

Tesla says, however, that the Model S could sell for around $56,400, with the actual price some $7,500 lower after a Federal Government tax credit on electric vehicles.

Tesla claims the Model S has a range of up to 450 kilometers (280 miles) without recharging and can reach a top speed of 200 km/h (125 mph). It is powered by a 454 kg (1001 lb) battery pack.

Initial plans were to build the car in New Mexico, but instead the Model S will be built near the company’s headquarters in San Jose, California.

Brisbane woman charged with Sizzler poisoning

Wednesday, March 1, 2006

Queensland, Australia police have charged a 57-year-old woman with the alleged contamination of the salad bar at two Sizzler restaurants.

Rat poison pellets were found in food at Sizzler restaurants at Toowong on January 20 and the Brisbane Myer Centre outlet last Sunday. Yesterday Sizzler closed salad bars nationwide, but they did not report the incidents to the Queensland Health Department until last Monday.

Queensland’s Health Minister Stephen Robertson criticised the restaurant chain for delaying reporting a possible incident of food contamination for 37 days. “I think this is a case that – a real life case – that we should perhaps learn some lessons from,” he said.

Queensland Police Inspector Bob Hytch said the woman is the same woman police asked to come forward after she told Sizzler staff she had found pellets in soup at the Myer Centre restaurant last Saturday.

The woman is expected to face Brisbane Magistrates’ Court tomorrow charged with two counts of contamination of goods and four counts of an act intending to cause grievous bodily harm.

Victoria Wyndham on Another World and another life

Thursday, December 13, 2007

Victoria Wyndham was one of the most seasoned and accomplished actresses in daytime soap opera television. She played Rachel Cory, the maven of Another World‘s fictional town, Bay City, from 1972 to 1999 when the show went off the air. Wyndham talks about how she was seen as the anchor of a show, and the political infighting to keep it on the air as NBC wanted to wrest control of the long-running soap from Procter & Gamble. Wyndham fought to keep it on the air, but eventually succumbed to the inevitable. She discusses life on the soap opera, and the seven years she spent wandering “in the woods” of Los Angeles seeking direction, now divorced from a character who had come to define her professional career. Happy, healthy and with a family she is proud of, Wyndham has found life after the death of Another World in painting and animals. Below is David Shankbone’s interview with the soap diva.

Franck Ribery didn’t pass a late fitness test and didn’t make the 18-man strong matchday squad. Luca Toni, Martin Demichelis an Jose Ernesto Sosa replaced Lukas Podolski, Philipp Lahm and Hamit Altintop. Jose Ernesto Sosa returned after being sidelined for almost two months after ankle surgery.

Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund exchanged plenty of chances and almost had a 50/50 possession between them.
